Hey love puffs! Iâve got to make this quick because today has been quite the busy day…
BUT I really wanted to take a minute to share some excited news with you all! Remember my Pale Is The New Tan post from a few weeks ago? Well, the response was quite overwhelming. A fellow blogger, Quinn from Daily Moderation, instantly reached out to me and was just as passionate as I was, so we decided to team up and continue spreading the word.
It was so great to hear that many of you have already or are planning on giving up the tanning salon. But letâs take that step further, shall we?
The month of May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month. Quinn and I want to spread the word that not only is tanning dangerous, but that we should make an effort to embrace our true colors.
Thatâs where you come in! Quinn and I will be featuring 1-2 bloggers each week during the month of May to share her/his story or experience with tanning. When and why did you decide to give up tanning? Did you work at a tanning salon and leave after learning about the harm it does? These are just a few examples of what weâre looking for.
If youâre interested in submitting your story, go ahead and contact Quinn or myself. We canât wait to hear how you decided to kiss tanning goodbye!
Weâll also be posting other helpful and interesting information about the dangers of tanning and alternatives to get that sun-kissed glow without compromising your health. So stay tuned, baby cakes!
Daily Recap
This morning I had yet another doctorâs appointment, and this one went really well. Long story short, I met with a new endocrinologist, and she was amazing. I felt like I was visiting Dr. House! She really paid attention to every detail of my medical history, and came up with some new possibilities of what could be going on with me. Iâm going to be getting some tests done within the next couple of weeks, so Iâll be sure to keep you posted.
Breakfast was peanut butter toast and a spinach omelet:
And lunch was a homemade turkey burger with spinach and hummus on a Bagel-Thin:
For a snack I had a wrap smothered with macadamia butter and chocolate hazelnut butter.
And now? Now Iâm heading off to meet my best friend Nicki for a dinner at Ruth Chris Steakhouse. Holla! Iâm reeeally excited for some good eats
Iâll be sure to post when I get home tonight, k? xoxo G

This is a really great thing that you and Quinn are doing! I will really benefit from reading any information you can give us since I recently came out of the closet about tanning, hehe
ruth chris is SO GOOD! i might be jealous
Thatâs so amazing you are teaming up to stop people from going to the tanning salon. I used to go in college, ESPECIALLY before vacation time. I will definitely be getting on board with spreading the message!
Great idea about the tanning project! Though Iâve stopped going to beds, I still lay out in the summer and this might be the motivation I need to kick the habit entirely
By the way, I want your snack…sounds amazinggg! Have fun at dinner love!
Great idea! Thought youâd be interested in reading this new study: http://www.healthday.com/Article.asp?AID=638243. It found that tanning is addictive.
gracie - your eats are so yum…honest.

Sounds like a fab idea well done you x x
Itâs funny because I was just working on a post about tanning beds… because I want to tan before the beach but my conscience is getting in the way.. ahhhhh..youâll read all about it tonight!
hi!!!!
iâm a new reader and just found you on Quinnâs blog! canât wait to keep reading !!!
I have never tanned, apart from a spray tan and “bottle” tan, which I think is a bit different, a girl from my high school died at 26 from cancer after using tanning beds, and that turned me right off.
Itâs horrible the effects of tanning, I embrace my paleness!!
(:

Oh what a nice dinner outing! HAVE FUN!!!
Love the beautiful strawberries that you consumed at lunch. I am like the biggest strawberry fan ever. So happy they are in season now!
I would love to participate in anti-tanning month!
Iâm glad the Dr. appt. went well
Hello! Just came across your blog and it is really fun. I enjoyed reading your food philosophy, probably because it sounds alot like mine. And I like your anti-tanning message, I used to do that stuff all.the.time in high school.
so amazing what you are doing to help spread the word that tanning is TOXIC! my junior year of college,we had to give a persuasive speech in one of my classes on ANY topic we were passionate about…,mine was the dangers of indoor tanning!!
Thank you so much for gaining awareness! I donât know if this is story worthy but my mom, grandma, and uncle have all had skin cancer..my mom THREE times!! She had to have gashes of skin taken off from her arm and nose. Her scars are hardly noticeable now, but that was enough for me. I said goodbye to tanning salons. I usually make sure to wear suntan lotion outside, but I do get the occasional burn…something Iâm still working on!!
I had a bagel and eggs too! Super yum
@Abby - I just commented on your post before reading this, haha
I think tanning on the beach is fine in moderation, just lather on the sunblock! Itâs the tanning salons that have got to go!
@Tracey @ Iâm Not Superhuman - thank you!!! *bookmarking page.* You may see me linking that in the near future
have fun at dinner! love the snack. mmmchocolate
