#LEAN14 january jumpstart: healthy alternatives.

With this month just about halfway through, I must say I’ve been doing a pretty good job with sticking to my January Jumpstart goals. I’m really glad I made the goals attainable, but they’re still making a huge difference.

One of the things January Jumpstart (and LEAN14 in general) has opened me up to is trying new healthy alternatives when I see them. For example, this Earth Balance Coconut Spread. It is so SO good!

It has the consistency of coconut oil but tastes more like coconut. I’ve been loving it on top of a sweet potato with a generous sprinkle of cinnamon.

I’ve also taken YOUR suggestion(s) of using TruWhip instead of Cool Whip in Easiest Ever Frozen Cookie Sandwiches. I also switched them up a bit by using Ginny Bakes Coconut Oatmeal Bliss Cookies. I’m going to be hooked on this treat for a looong time…

And of course, there’s the old favorite healthy alternatives. I’m lucky to live near a Blossom Du Jour when I want to order takeout, where I get my favorite Smokacado Wrap.

What are some healthy alternatives you use? Any new food finds? Would love more of your suggestions!

    I try to swap out desserts and sweets for fruit or something like a pumpkin/banana cookies that is healthier but still tastes indulgent!

    My sister introduced me to a peanut butter powder recently, PB2. It’s basically a lower calorie version of PB in powerder form, but gives you the awesome taste. I highly recommend if you’re a PB lover, it took a regular spinach/berry/bananna smoothie from a 5 to a 10!

      I’ve tried PB2! I like it, but it never is a full replacement for peanut butter for me, so I usually just stick to the real thing 🙂 it is good in smoothies though!

    Loving the #LEAN14 posts – that coconut spread looks incredible, and I MUST try Blossom du Jour ASAP!

    My favorite lazy, healthy dinner lately is spaghetti squash mixed with melty cheese – alfredo? Kinda maybe sorta? It tastes AMAZING! I usually use either Laughing Cow in a pinch, or those cute little single servings of Goat Cheese from Trader Joe’s. Top with a fried egg, and it’s the best.

    I got a ton of chocolate in my stocking this year (my family knows me too well) including a new -to-me Godiva Bar – Dark Chocolate Peppermint Crunch. It’s INSANE.

    I can totally vouch for the spaghetti squash. I stick it in the microwave in the morning when i’m in the shower, then cut it in half, then stick it (de-seeded) in a 400 degree oven as soon as I get home. I mix mine with bolognese or marinara and top with either a spoonful of ricotta for creaminess or a spoonful of parmesan. Really filling – also great if you add turkey sausage or turkey meatballs!

    And I have got to seek out that Earth Balance.

    I’ve been craving Blossom like crazy lately. I actually joked with my mom that I wanted to take a trip to NYC solely for the food. It’s silly because LA has some of the most amazing restaurants in the country but the grass is always greener on the other side, I guess. (:
    I’m so proud of you for sticking with your goals this month- you’re doing an amazing job! Not to mention, you’re inspiring me to kick my butt into gear as well. Thank you, lady!

      Yeah I was getting bummed that I was moving away from being so close from a Blossom Du Jour, but I’m moving right near ANOTHER one, haha! phew 😛
