Remember that time I quit my job?
Well, last week was the official start of this new leg of my journey here in NYC, and there were some very noticeable (and very welcome) changes that have taken place already.
For example, the majority of my breakfasts over the last seven months have been tupperwares full of cereal that I grabbed last minute to eat at the office. But now? Now I can enjoy these old friends of mine.
A green smoothie made with one frozen banana, 1/2 cup whole milk, 1/2 scoop Vega mix, and topped with crushed walnuts. Could this mark the return of girl meets…health?! Eh.
And then there’s the definite upgrade in my morning coffee. While I do love me some classic Starbucks, it doesn’t even compare to the boldness that is Stumptown Coffee at one of my favorite new “offices.”
Dressing professionally for work was never a huge challenge for me, but I’ve gladly welcome the chance to wear “me” clothes again. Leggings, boots, and my obnoxiously large watches? Yes, please, and thank you.
But, then there are some things that never change, never will, and never should.
…like weekends spent with my BFFLOPPPP. Yeah, we acronymed our friendship. Gotta problem?
No-plans Saturday is most certainly still in place – like yesterday, where we covered just about 6 miles worth of the city. Brunch was involved, as usual.
(That’d be a Cobb Salad from Elmo, which I think I may deem as my favorite salad in the city.)
And on the agenda for today? An unchanged Sunday full of relaxing, churching, and baking a new twist on a fall-favorite.
Recipe for Individual Pumpkin Pie to come!
I’ve got to say – I’m actually really thankful for the change of pace my life is taking right now. Although my previous job was a huge blessing and nothing horrible, I found myself getting complacent going in a direction that deep down I knew wasn’t what I really wanted. While finding a steady routine isn’t always a bad thing, I never want it to cause me to lose the sense of spontaneity and adventure that I think is so important for overall quality of life. I refuse to let the days and weeks turn into one big blur, you know? So…here’s to embracing change! Or, at least some of it
Enjoy your Sunday, friends! xoxo G
Do you ever try to switch up your normal routine? Would you consider yourself spontaneous/open to change?
