About 4 miles and 12 blisters later, I have officially seen most of Chicago. It is such a beautiful city!
My travel companions for the majority of the day were Gabriela, Katy, and Megan. We had a blast
Love Gabriela flashing the peace sign…
Sass-attack
We made a very necessary Starbucks pit-stop, where I grabbed an iced green tea.
And despite the heat, we had a gorgeous day to explore the city!
We walked the Chicago River Walk…
…And paid a visit to the Navy Pier.
haha
To round out the Chicago tourist-y attractions, we went to Giordano’s for a lunch of Deep. Dish. Pizza.
SO GOOD! New York, I will always love you and your thin-crust pizza, but Chicago-style pizza gives you a serious run for your money.
I only had one slice and was quite stuffed. Katy and I also split an impressive house salad (balsamic vinaigrette for her, ranch for me).
CHEESY GOODNESS.
Oh, and did I mention that the fabulous Anne and Chandra joined us for lunch?
They’re pretty epic.
We rounded out the day with a walk through the shopping district on Michigan Ave. before finally heading back to the hotel to freshen up for tonight’s HLS cocktail party. It’s crazy that HLS hasn’t even officially started yet!
I’m going to relax for a bit and chill with the roombuds
Oh, and I’m also going to sort through this insane swag bag we received. WOOP!
Hope you’re all enjoying the start of your weekend, lovebugs! xoxo G
- Do you prefer the city or country life? Or both?
- What are your plans for this weekend?

Glad you’re having a good time in Chicago! It looks like such a fun city. I prefer living the country life (or suburbs, really) but I love visiting big cities and living close enough to drive to one for a day trip. My weekend plans involve a whole lot of cleaning/organizing the basement and possible a new computer purchase!
Maybe this is because I’m a foodie and a former obese woman, but was that a picture of a giant piece of macaroni and cheese????
I hear it was horribly hot in the MidWest today. It’s good you beautiful ladies stayed hydrated! Don’t forget the sunscreen!!!
That pizza- now THAT’S what I’m talking about! If I’m going to have pizza, I want deeeeep dish! HA!
Chicago really is such a cool city! Have fun exploring and at HLS!
I definitely prefer city life because you don’t have to drive
We have a wedding to go to this weekend – it’s that time of year!
Great shots!
Would you believe I can eat FOUR of those pieces of pizza…yeah I’m crazy like that
Have fun!
I am so jealous you went to Giordanos. It is my absolute favorite pizza ever! Have fun on the rest of your trip!
I can’t believe that I’ve never had Chicago deep-dish pizza! It looks wonderful
I really really want to go to Chicago after seeing all your pictures. I wish I could be there with you guys. Especially you!
I’m a city girl. I love the energy of the city.
Deep dish pizza looks incredible, I dont think I’d get through a slice
Giordano’s!! Yummy! It was a happy day when I discovered one down here in FL!! My weekend plans include shopping, church, and hanging with one of my favorite people
I’m definitely a city girl. I live in Columbus right now for college at OSU and love it!
I’ve also been to Chicago once (last year) and went to that exact place for pizza. Mmm that pizza is delish! Have a great time at HLS!!!
Wow, that is one deep pizza! It looks insanely cheesy!
I love living in the suburbs and just being able to visit the big city whenever I need a dose of city life.
i am so glad you girls got some deep dish pizza! It is a must in CHICAGO!!!!!!!!!!! Love it!! Im loving the recaps! U girls all looked so beautiful at the event last night, love the pics!

ps- will you have time to hit up some blues/jazz cafes?
Looks like a great time in Chicago! I went on a field trip in high school and one kid put down 4 pieces of Giordano’s pizza! It was ridiculous!
I’m definitely a country girl (I hate crowds and traffic), but I love visiting the city.
[...] Deep dish pizza was pretty impressive, but I’ve got to stick with my East Coast lover – Mr. thin crust. [...]
I wasn’t able to visit any jazz cafes, but that would’ve been so much fun! I wish I had more time to see Chicago’s cultural/night life scene
HAHAH yes…HAD to take a picture of the single macaroni
