food tour + last night in Chicago.

So…does anyone want to donate to the send Gracie back to Chicago for another weekend fund?! Okay, didn’t think so. It was worth a shot, right? I’ve just had such a great time in this fabulous city.

Chicago food tour.

Rewind to yesterday afternoon: I went on a food tour of Chicago, which was hosted by Tastebud Tours. I  must admit that I wasn’t hungry…at all…but when has that ever stopped me? :P

I was joined by a group of lovely ladies, as usual.

Andrea and I are lovebugs, fyi :)

Our first stop was Berghoff’s, where we were given bratwurst sandwiches.

I definitely wouldn’t consider myself a picky eater, but I’m just not a fan of bratwurst. I had one bite of this, and after a few chews it ended up in a napkin :? Oops!

Our next stop was the Palmer Hotel, where supposedly the brownie was invented. I may not be chocolate’s biggest fan, but the brownie sample they gave us was pretty much to die.

Other eats from the tour included popcorn. More specifically - a weird but apparently popular mix of cheddar and caramel popcorn.

And a classic Chicago hot dog from Halsted Street Deli. Yes, I eat hot dogs. And yes, I love hot dogs.

I actually took most all of the vegetables off of this dog…’cause I’m healthy like that :?

Gabriela and I ended up leaving the tour a bit early to head back to the hotel and get ready for the night ahead.

Karyn’s On Green.

Later Saturday night the girls and I headed to Karyn’s On Green for a late dinner/get-together, which Angela from Oh She Glows organized. Karyn’s is a hip vegan restaurant in the downtown area of the city.

I was not at all hungry from the food tour, but I still wanted to try some of what Karyn’s had to offer. Ali and I decided to split a couple of dishes. We went with the Lentil Salad:

And the Eggplant Cannelloni appetizer:

Both dishes were delicious! As was the company :D

After dinner I met up with almost a dozen of my other favorite ladies for some final blogger shenanigans. We had a blast! It was definitely a great way to spend my last night in Chicago.

After a semi smooth-sailing travel day, I’m officially home! A recap of today’s events will come tomorrow :) But for now I’m going to eat some dinner, spend time with the momma, and call it night. LOVE! xoxo G

  • Are you a picky eater? What food grosses you out?
  • If you could do a food tour of any city, which would you choose?
